Lamia is a city in central Greece and serves as the capital of the regional unit of Phthiotis. It is located in the southern part of the region of Central Greece. Lamia is situated about 220 kilometers (137 miles) northwest of Athens, the capital of Greece. The city is positioned near the Maliakos Gulf, which is an inlet of the Aegean Sea. Lamia has a history dating back to ancient times and has been an important settlement throughout various periods of Greek history.
