Barbados is a country in the West Indies. Barbados is east of the Caribbean Sea, in the western area of the North Atlantic Ocean, 100 km (62 mi) east of the Windward Islands and the Caribbean Sea. It is a West Indian continental island nation.

It spans a 432 km2 region and is 34 km (21 mi) long by up to 23 km (14 mi) wide (167 sq mi). Barbados It is located 168 kilometers east of Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, 180 kilometers south of Martinique, and 400 kilometers north of Trinidad and Tobago. Barbados is flat when compared to the neighboring island namely Windward. One-third of the population of Barbados resides in Bridgetown, the island nation's capital and largest city. The major towns of Barbados are Holetown, Oistins, and Speightstown.

The nation typically has two seasons and they are ‘Wet Season’ and ‘Dry Season’. The one season has significantly heavier rainfall, which is known as wet season. The time frame for this season is from June to December. From December till May, there is a dry season in Barbados. The average temperature ranges from 21 to 31 °C from December to May, and from 23 to 31 °C from June to November. A large portion of Barbados is classified as having a tropical monsoon climate according to the Koppen climate classification system.

In terms of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) per capita, Barbados ranks 52nd richest country in the world. It has a developed mixed economy and a reasonably good standard of life. Barbados is one of the world's 83 high-income economies, according to the World Bank. In recent years, Barbados' economy has expanded into the manufacturing and tourist sectors after formerly being reliant on sugarcane farming and related businesses. Barbadians is the official name for the inhabitants of the country. Barbados is a cultural fusion of British, Portuguese, Indian, Creole, and West African influences. The word "Bajan" may have originated from a regional spelling of the word "Barbadian." African, Indian, Irish, Creole, and British influences can all be found in Bajan cuisine.
