Maryborough is located on the Fraser Coast in southeastern Queensland, about 250 kilometres north of Brisbane. It lies between the Mary River, which runs along the edge of the city, and the coastal lowlands that lead toward Hervey Bay. It is famous for its preserved colonial architecture, its connection to Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers, and its rich heritage as a historic port town.
