Papua New Guinea is an island country, located in the south-western Pacific in the Oceania Continent. It's lies in the eastern half of New Guinea and numerous smaller islands. Its neighbours include Australia to the south, Indonesia to the west and Solomon Islands to the south-east.

Papua New Guinea is an island country in Oceania, located partially on the island of New Guinea, and several other islands in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.

Papua New Guinea gained its independence from Australia in the year 1975. However, it remains a realm of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Papua New Guinea. The capital city of the country is Port Moresby.
