Halle, officially known as Halle (Saale), is a city in the eastern part of Germany. It is located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The city is situated on the Saale River, approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) northwest of Leipzig. Halle has a rich history and is known for its cultural heritage, including historical buildings, museums, and the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, one of the oldest universities in Germany. The city is a center for education, research, and commerce in the region.
