Highlands County is located in the south-central part of Florida, in the state of the United States. The county was established in 1921 and was named for the elevated terrain of the Lake Wales Ridge, one of the highest land areas in the state. The county seat is Sebring, which is also the largest city. Highlands County is known for its lakes, agricultural activity, and motorsports heritage.
