Where is Bogalusa Located?
Bogalusa is a city located in Washington Parish, Louisiana, the United States. The city lies in southeastern Louisiana near the Mississippi state line, approximately 70 miles (113 km) north of New Orleans, 45 miles (72 km) northeast of Hammond, and 25 miles (40 km) west of the Mississippi border. Bogalusa is located at 30.7910° North latitude and 89.8487° West longitude. According to the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 10,659. Bogalusa covers approximately 43.50 square miles (112.66 sq km). The city developed around the timber industry and was founded in the early twentieth century by the Great Southern Lumber Company. Its name comes from a Choctaw term associated with the area's historical Indigenous population. Bogalusa is also close to the Pearl River and offers access to parks, waterways, and outdoor recreation in the surrounding Piney Woods region.
