Jennings is a city located in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana, the United States. It lies in southwestern Louisiana, about 45 miles west of Lafayette and roughly 35 miles north of Lake Charles. Jennings serves as the parish seat of Jefferson Davis Parish and is part of the Acadiana region. The city is located at approximately 30.222° North latitude and 92.657° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 9,829 residents. Jennings covers about 10.54 square miles, or 27.30 square kilometers. The city developed in the late 19th century as railroads, rice farming, and later oil production expanded across southwest Louisiana. Rice agriculture remains an important part of the area's identity, and Jennings is often called the "Rice Capital of America." The Tupper Museum is one of the city's best-known attractions and features exhibits about local history, rice farming, and the region's oil industry.
