Ville Platte is a city located in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana, the United States. It is in central Louisiana, about 35 miles east of Alexandria and approximately 60 miles northwest of Lafayette. Ville Platte lies at about 30.688° North latitude and 92.277° West longitude. The city had 6,303 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 5.04 square miles, or 13.05 square kilometers. Ville Platte was founded in the early 19th century and became the seat of Evangeline Parish when the parish was created in 1910. The area has strong Cajun and Creole cultural traditions, reflected in local food, music, festivals, and community life.
