Cochran is a city located in Bleckley County, Georgia, the United States. It is the county seat of Bleckley County and is about 45 miles southeast of Macon and 45 miles northwest of Dublin. Cochran is located at approximately 32.3868° North latitude and 83.3549° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,060 residents, and the city covers about 4.78 square miles (12.38 sq km). The surrounding area is largely rural, with farms, pine forests, and small communities. Cochran was incorporated in 1869 and became the county seat when Bleckley County was created in 1912. The city developed around the railroad and agriculture and remains a local center for education, government, farming, and services.
