Fairburn is a city located in Fulton County, Georgia, the United States. It lies in the southwestern part of the Atlanta metropolitan area, about 20 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta and roughly 15 miles south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Fairburn is positioned at approximately 33.568° North latitude and 84.581° West longitude. The city covers about 17.0 square miles, or 44.0 square kilometers, of land. The 2020 Census recorded 16,483 residents, while the 2023 population estimate was about 19,000. Fairburn stands at an elevation of roughly 950 feet above sea level. The city developed around the railroad and became an important commercial center for the surrounding farming area. Historic downtown Fairburn and the Old Campbell County Courthouse reflect its 19th-century past. The Georgia Renaissance Festival, held nearby each spring, is one of the area's best-known attractions. Fairburn's location along Interstate 85 also provides direct access to Atlanta, the airport, and other communities across metro Atlanta.
