Genoa is a city located in DeKalb County, Illinois, the United States. It lies in northern Illinois, about 20 miles southwest of Rockford and 15 miles northwest of DeKalb. The city is part of the Rockford metropolitan area and sits near the Kishwaukee River and Kishwaukee River State Fish and Wildlife Area. Genoa is located at approximately 42.095° North latitude and 88.692° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,298 residents. The city covers about 3.23 square miles, or 8.37 square kilometers, with most of its area consisting of land. Genoa was founded in the 1830s and developed as an agricultural and railroad community.
