Gulf Breeze is a city located in Santa Rosa County, Florida, the United States. It lies on the Fairpoint Peninsula between Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound in northwest Florida. The city is about 7 miles southeast of Pensacola and roughly 10 miles west of Navarre. Gulf Breeze is part of the Pensacola metropolitan area and is connected to Pensacola by the Pensacola Bay Bridge. The city is located at approximately 30.357° North latitude and 87.164° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,340 residents. Gulf Breeze covers about 4.44 square miles, or 11.50 square kilometers, including land and water. The community developed as a residential area near Pensacola and incorporated in 1961. Its coastal setting is central to its geography and history. Nearby Gulf Islands National Seashore protects beaches, dunes, forests, and coastal waters, while Naval Live Oaks Nature Preserve contains maritime forest and hiking trails. Pensacola Beach, located across Santa Rosa Sound, is also close by. U.S. Highway 98 provides a major east-west route through the city and connects Gulf Breeze with Pensacola and other Gulf Coast communities.
