Jesup is a city located in Wayne County, Georgia, the United States. It lies in southeast Georgia, about 50 miles west of Brunswick and roughly 80 miles southwest of Savannah. Jesup serves as the county seat of Wayne County and is surrounded by pine forests, wetlands, farms, and waterways typical of Georgia's Coastal Plain. The city is located at approximately 31.607° North latitude and 81.886° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,214 residents. Jesup covers about 17.77 square miles, or 46.02 square kilometers. The city developed rapidly in the late 19th century as railroads expanded through southeast Georgia, making Jesup an important transportation and commercial center. The Altamaha River is one of the area's best-known natural features and provides opportunities for boating, fishing, wildlife viewing, and paddling.
