Richmond Hill is a city located in Bryan County, Georgia, the United States. It lies in coastal Georgia along the Ogeechee River, about 20 miles southwest of downtown Savannah and roughly 40 miles northeast of Brunswick. Hinesville is around 30 miles southwest, while Pooler is about 20 miles northwest. Richmond Hill is positioned near 31.938° North latitude and 81.304° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 16,633 residents. The city covers about 12.19 square miles, or 31.57 square kilometers. Richmond Hill was incorporated in 1962 and grew from a small coastal community into a suburban city within the Savannah metropolitan area. The area has a strong connection to Henry Ford, who maintained a winter estate at nearby Richmond Hill and helped develop schools, roads, farms, and community facilities during the early 20th century. The Ford plantation landscape is preserved through several historic sites and landmarks. Fort McAllister State Park, located along the Ogeechee River south of the city, is one of the area's best-known attractions. It preserves a Civil War-era earthwork fort and provides trails, camping, fishing, boating, and views of the river and surrounding marshes.
