Thomasville is a city located in Thomas County, Georgia, the United States. It lies in southwest Georgia near the Florida state line, about 35 miles northeast of Tallahassee, Florida, and roughly 40 miles west of Valdosta. Cairo is about 30 miles northwest, while Moultrie is approximately 30 miles east of Thomasville. The city is located at 30.8366° North latitude and 83.9786° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 18,881 residents. Thomasville covers about 14.47 square miles, or approximately 37.48 square kilometers. The surrounding landscape includes pine forests, farms, wetlands, and gently rolling terrain typical of the Red Hills and Coastal Plain region. Thomasville grew rapidly in the 19th century after the arrival of the railroad and became a popular winter destination for visitors from northern states.
