Tifton is a city located in Tift County, Georgia, the United States. It lies in south-central Georgia, about 50 miles northwest of Valdosta and roughly 45 miles southeast of Albany. Moultrie is about 30 miles southwest, while Fitzgerald is approximately 30 miles east of Tifton. The city is located at 31.4505° North latitude and 83.5085° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 16,350 residents. Tifton covers about 14.19 square miles, or approximately 36.75 square kilometers. The surrounding landscape includes flat to gently rolling farmland, pine forests, wetlands, and rural communities typical of Georgia's Coastal Plain. Tifton is an important agricultural center and is home to the University of Georgia Tifton Campus, which conducts research related to crops and agriculture. The Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village preserves historic farm buildings, tools, machinery, and demonstrations of rural life.
