Chicago Heights is located at approximately 41.5061° North latitude and 87.6356° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 27,480 residents, and the city covers about 10.63 square miles (27.53 sq km). The city developed as an industrial and railroad center during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Chicago Heights was incorporated as a village in 1892 and became a city in 1901. Its location near Interstate 80, Interstate 294, and major regional roads provides convenient access to Chicago and northwest Indiana.
