Cocoa is a city located in Brevard County, Florida, the United States. It is on Florida's east-central coast along the Indian River, about 10 miles west of Cocoa Beach and 45 miles east of Orlando. Cocoa is located at approximately 28.3861° North latitude and 80.7420° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 19,041 residents, and the city covers about 15.32 square miles (39.68 sq km). Cocoa was incorporated in 1881 and grew as a river and agricultural community. Its location on the Indian River helped support trade and transportation, while its proximity to Cape Canaveral later connected the city with Florida's space industry. Today, Cocoa is part of the larger Space Coast region and is known for its historic downtown, riverfront, and access to nearby beaches and wildlife areas.
