Crest Hill is a city located in Will County, Illinois, the United States. It lies about 40 miles southwest of downtown Chicago and just west of Joliet. Crest Hill is also about 10 miles from Plainfield and roughly 25 miles from Aurora. The city is located at approximately 41.5548° North latitude and 88.0987° West longitude. Crest Hill covers about 13.24 square miles (34.29 sq km) and had 20,847 residents in the 2020 Census. The area has a mix of residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, wetlands, and open spaces. Crest Hill was incorporated as a village in 1960 and became a city in 1967. Its location near Joliet and major highways helped support steady suburban growth. The Des Plaines River flows through the wider area, while historic Route 66 passes nearby. The city is also close to the Illinois and Michigan Canal Trail and several forest preserves.
