East Cleveland is a city located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, the United States. It is immediately east of Cleveland and forms part of the inner suburbs of the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area. East Cleveland is about 5 miles east of downtown Cleveland and lies close to Cleveland Heights, University Heights, and Euclid. The city is located at approximately 41.53° North latitude and 81.58° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 13,792 residents. East Cleveland covers about 3.43 square miles (8.88 square kilometers), with nearly all of the city consisting of land. The city was incorporated in 1866 and developed rapidly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as Cleveland expanded eastward. East Cleveland is closely associated with the historic Euclid Avenue corridor and the development of streetcar suburbs. Nearby attractions include University Circle, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance Music Center, and the Cleveland Botanical Garden.
