Garden City is a city located in Chatham County, Georgia, the United States. It lies in the Coastal Georgia region and is part of the Savannah metropolitan area. Garden City is about 4 miles northwest of downtown Savannah and is positioned near the Savannah River. The city is also home to the Garden City Terminal, one of the major container facilities serving the Port of Savannah. Garden City lies at approximately 32.087° North latitude and 81.177° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,289 residents. The city covers about 14.38 square miles, or 37.2 square kilometers, including about 14.32 square miles of land. Savannah's historic district and River Street are only a short drive away. Garden City was incorporated in 1939 and developed from a planned industrial community created to support workers and nearby industries.
