Geneva is a city located in Kane County, Illinois, the United States. It sits in the Fox River Valley about 40 miles west of downtown Chicago and is bordered by St. Charles to the west and Batavia to the east. Geneva is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and has convenient access to major roads and the Metra commuter rail system. The city is located at approximately 41.887° North latitude and 88.305° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 21,393 residents. Geneva covers about 10.1 square miles, or 26.2 square kilometers. The city was founded in the 1830s and became an important settlement along the Fox River.
