Where is Maitland Located?

Maitland is a city located in Orange County, Florida, the United States. It lies in Central Florida, about 7 miles north of downtown Orlando and roughly 5 miles south of Winter Park. Maitland is located at approximately 28.627° North latitude and 81.364° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 19,543 residents, and the city covers about 6.28 square miles (16.27 sq km). Maitland was incorporated in 1885 and developed around lakes, citrus groves, and transportation routes serving the growing Orlando area. The city takes its name from Fort Maitland, an early military post established in the region during the Second Seminole War. Today, Maitland is a compact suburban city with historic neighborhoods, offices, parks, museums, and waterfront areas. The Maitland Art Center is one of its best-known attractions and is recognized for its distinctive architecture and gardens. Lake Lily Park provides a scenic setting for walking, outdoor events, and community activities. The city also preserves several historic sites, including the Waterhouse Residence and Carpentry Shop Museum.
