Marianna is a city located in Jackson County, Florida, the United States. It lies in the Florida Panhandle, about 65 miles west of Tallahassee and roughly 55 miles southeast of Dothan, Alabama. Marianna is located at approximately 30.774° North latitude and 85.227° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,245 residents, and the city covers about 11.32 square miles (29.32 sq km). Marianna was founded in 1828 and incorporated in 1829, making it one of the older communities in the Florida Panhandle. The city developed as an agricultural and commercial center in the Chipola River region and became the county seat of Jackson County. The surrounding landscape includes forests, farms, springs, sinkholes, and limestone formations that are typical of the Florida Panhandle.
