Where is Mascotte Located?

Mascotte is a city located in Lake County, Florida, the United States. It lies in Central Florida, about 35 miles west of Orlando and roughly 10 miles southwest of Clermont. Mascotte is located at approximately 28.578° North latitude and 81.887° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,609 residents, and the city covers about 6.52 square miles (16.89 sq km). Mascotte was incorporated in 1921 and developed from a small agricultural community in the Lake County region. Citrus growing and other agricultural activities shaped the local economy for much of its early history. Today, Mascotte is a growing residential community with neighborhoods, local businesses, schools, parks, and open land. The surrounding landscape is marked by freshwater lakes, wetlands, citrus groves, and rolling terrain that is less flat than much of Central Florida. Lake Louisa State Park is one of the area's major natural attractions and offers hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. Nearby Lake County is also known for its chain of large freshwater lakes and scenic hills. A unique feature of Mascotte is its location along the western edge of the Orlando metropolitan area while retaining a more rural landscape than many communities closer to Orlando. U.S. Highway 27 is the main north-south transportation route through the area, connecting Mascotte with Clermont, Davenport, and other Central Florida communities. State Road 50 provides access to Winter Garden, Orlando, and Interstate 75.
