Okeechobee is a city located in Okeechobee County, Florida, the United States. It lies in South Central Florida near the northern shore of Lake Okeechobee, about 55 miles west of Port St. Lucie and roughly 60 miles northwest of West Palm Beach. Fort Pierce is about 45 miles east, while Sebring is around 55 miles west. Okeechobee is positioned near 27.244° North latitude and 80.829° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,254 residents. The city covers about 4.14 square miles, or 10.72 square kilometers. Lake Okeechobee, the largest freshwater lake in Florida, is the area's best-known natural feature and supports fishing, boating, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing.
