Port Wentworth is a city located in Chatham County, Georgia, the United States. It lies in coastal Georgia within the Savannah metropolitan area, about 10 miles northwest of downtown Savannah and near the Savannah River. Pooler is around 8 miles southwest, while Rincon is about 10 miles northwest. Port Wentworth is positioned near 32.149° North latitude and 81.164° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,878 residents. The city covers about 19.36 square miles, or 50.14 square kilometers. Port Wentworth was incorporated in 1939 and grew from an area with a long history of rice cultivation and river trade. The Savannah River remains an important part of the city's geography and economy.
