Quincy is a city located in Gadsden County, Florida, the United States. It is in the Florida Panhandle, about 20 miles northwest of Tallahassee and roughly 45 miles southwest of Bainbridge, Georgia. Havana is around 10 miles northeast, while Chattahoochee is about 20 miles west. Quincy is positioned near 30.588° North latitude and 84.583° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,970 residents. The city covers about 8.85 square miles, or 22.92 square kilometers. Quincy was incorporated in 1828 and became the county seat of Gadsden County. The community developed around agriculture and trade, with tobacco becoming especially important during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The wealth created by tobacco helped local families build many historic homes and businesses. The Quincy Historic District contains numerous well-preserved buildings that reflect the city's past.
