Rocky River is a city located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, the United States. It lies along Lake Erie in northeast Ohio, about 10 miles west of downtown Cleveland and roughly 7 miles east of Lorain. Lakewood is around 5 miles east, while Westlake is about 5 miles west. Rocky River is positioned near 41.476° North latitude and 81.839° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 20,446 residents. The city covers about 5.57 square miles, or 14.43 square kilometers. Rocky River was settled in the early 19th century and incorporated as a city in 1930. Its location at the mouth of the Rocky River made the area important for early settlement, mills, transportation, and trade.
