Rolling Meadows is a city located in Cook County, Illinois, the United States. It lies in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, about 25 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and roughly 5 miles north of Schaumburg. Arlington Heights borders the city to the west, while Elk Grove Village is nearby to the east. Rolling Meadows is positioned near 42.076° North latitude and 88.014° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 23,947 residents. The city covers about 5.60 square miles, or 14.50 square kilometers. Rolling Meadows was incorporated in 1955 after developing as a suburban community during the rapid postwar growth of the Chicago region. Residential neighborhoods expanded alongside commercial and industrial areas, helped by nearby highways and access to employment centers throughout the northwest suburbs. A unique feature of Rolling Meadows is its location close to the Ned Brown Preserve, commonly known as Busse Woods, one of the largest forest preserves in the Chicago area. The preserve offers trails, fishing, boating, picnic areas, and wildlife habitat. Nearby attractions include Busse Woods, Arlington Park, Woodfield Mall, and the Schaumburg Boomers stadium.
