Troy is a city located in Madison County, Illinois, the United States. It lies in southwestern Illinois within the Metro East area of the St. Louis metropolitan region. Troy is about 20 miles northeast of downtown St. Louis and roughly 8 miles east of Edwardsville. Collinsville is approximately 10 miles southwest, while Highland is about 15 miles northeast of Troy. The city is located near 38.7292° North latitude and 89.8831° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,999 residents. Troy covers about 7.24 square miles, or approximately 18.75 square kilometers. The surrounding landscape includes gently rolling farmland, residential neighborhoods, wooded areas, and small streams.
