Ashtabula is a city located in Ashtabula County, Ohio, the United States. The city sits on the shores of Lake Erie at the mouth of the Ashtabula River in northeastern Ohio. It is approximately 55 miles (89 km) northeast of Cleveland, 28 miles (45 km) west of Erie, Pennsylvania, and about 65 miles (105 km) north of Youngstown. Ashtabula is located at 41.8651° North latitude and 80.7898° West longitude. According to the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 18,295. Ashtabula covers approximately 7.85 square miles (20.33 sq km). The city is widely recognized for its busy harbor, the Ashtabula Harbor Historic District, and one of the highest concentrations of covered bridges in Ohio.
