The city occupies most of Bainbridge Island in Puget Sound, approximately 10 miles (16 km) west of downtown Seattle by ferry, 13 miles (21 km) east of Poulsbo, and about 18 miles (29 km) northeast of Bremerton. Bainbridge Island is located at 47.6262° North latitude and 122.5212° West longitude. According to the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 24,825. Bainbridge Island covers approximately 65.97 square miles (170.86 sq km), including both land and surrounding waters.
