Chardon is a city located in Geauga County, Ohio, the United States. It is about 35 miles east of Cleveland and 25 miles south of Lake Erie. Chardon is located at approximately 41.5817° North latitude and 81.2082° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,148 residents, and the city covers about 4.56 square miles (11.81 sq km). Chardon is one of Ohio's best-known maple syrup-producing communities and hosts the annual Geauga County Maple Festival. The city was founded in 1812 and incorporated in 1873. Its elevated location in the Chardon Highlands contributes to heavy winter snowfall and gives the area a distinct climate compared with much of northeast Ohio.
