Circleville is a city located in Pickaway County, Ohio, the United States. It is about 25 miles south of Columbus and 30 miles north of Chillicothe. Circleville is located at approximately 39.6006° North latitude and 82.9460° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 13,925 residents, and the city covers about 6.76 square miles (17.51 sq km). Circleville was founded in 1810 and was named for its original circular street layout, which was based on an ancient Hopewell earthwork. The city later adopted a more traditional grid pattern. Circleville serves as the county seat and is an important center for business, education, agriculture, and public services in Pickaway County.
