Clayton is a city located in Montgomery County, Ohio, the United States. It is about 10 miles northwest of downtown Dayton and 15 miles southwest of Springfield. Clayton is located at approximately 39.8631° North latitude and 84.3605° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 13,209 residents, and the city covers about 18.37 square miles (47.58 sq km). Clayton developed as a suburban community north of Dayton and became a city in 1998 through the merger of several local communities. The city has a mix of residential neighborhoods, open spaces, parks, and commercial areas. Its location near Interstate 70 and Interstate 75 provides convenient access to Dayton, Columbus, and other cities in western Ohio.
