Cortland is a city located in Trumbull County, Ohio, the United States. It is about 10 miles north of Warren and roughly 50 miles southeast of Cleveland. Cortland lies at approximately 41.3301° North latitude and 80.7254° West longitude. The city covers about 4.62 square miles (11.97 sq km) and had 7,041 residents in the 2020 Census. The area has rolling terrain, wooded land, small streams, and farmland typical of northeastern Ohio. Cortland was established in the 19th century and incorporated as a village in 1974 before becoming a city in 1993. The community grew from an agricultural settlement into a residential city while keeping its small-town character. Mosquito Lake State Park is one of the area's best-known outdoor attractions and offers boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing.
