Where is Delphos Located?
Delphos is a city located in Allen County and Van Wert County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in northwest Ohio, about 15 miles northwest of Lima, 15 miles southeast of Van Wert, and roughly 40 miles southwest of Findlay. The city is located at approximately 40.8437° North latitude and 84.3413° West longitude. Delphos covers about 6.36 square miles (16.47 sq km) and had 7,326 residents in the 2020 Census. The community developed along the Miami and Erie Canal, which connected Lake Erie with the Ohio River and helped Delphos become an important transportation and trading center during the 19th century. The canal was later replaced by railroads and highways. Delphos was incorporated in 1851 and has a long history of agriculture, manufacturing, and local commerce. The city's historic downtown includes older commercial buildings and churches that reflect its growth during the canal and railroad eras.
