Fairlawn is a city located in Summit County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in western Summit County, about 6 miles west of downtown Akron and roughly 35 miles south of Cleveland. Fairlawn is positioned at approximately 41.127° North latitude and 81.609° West longitude. The city has about 4.57 square miles, or 11.83 square kilometers, of land area. The 2020 Census recorded 7,710 residents, and the U.S. Census Bureau estimated 7,815 residents in 2025. Fairlawn stands at an elevation of roughly 1,050 feet above sea level. The city developed from a suburban community into an important commercial center for western Summit County. Its location near Interstate 77, Interstate 271, and State Route 18 provides easy access to Akron, Cleveland, and surrounding communities.
