Franklin is a city located in Warren County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in southwestern Ohio along the Great Miami River, about 30 miles northeast of downtown Cincinnati, 20 miles southwest of Dayton, and roughly 10 miles north of Middletown. Franklin is positioned at approximately 39.558° North latitude and 84.304° West longitude. The city covers about 9.14 square miles, or 23.67 square kilometers, including land and water. The 2020 Census recorded 11,771 residents, while recent estimates place the population at about 12,000. Franklin stands at an elevation of roughly 650 feet above sea level. The community was settled in the early 19th century and incorporated in 1814. Its location along the Great Miami River helped shape its early economy and transportation network. The city has a historic downtown with buildings that reflect its long development as a regional community. Franklin Community Park and the Great Miami River provide outdoor recreation close to the city center.
