Galion is a city located in Crawford County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in north-central Ohio, about 15 miles southeast of Mansfield, 25 miles west of Mount Vernon, and roughly 60 miles northeast of Columbus. Galion is positioned at approximately 40.734° North latitude and 82.790° West longitude. The city covers about 8.76 square miles, or 22.69 square kilometers. The 2020 Census recorded 9,789 residents. Galion grew as a railroad and industrial community during the 19th century, and rail transportation played an important role in its development. Today, the city has residential neighborhoods, historic commercial areas, parks, and manufacturing facilities. Amann Reservoir provides opportunities for fishing and outdoor recreation, while Heise Park offers sports fields and green space.
