Germantown is a village located in Montgomery County, Ohio, the United States. It sits in southwestern Ohio along Twin Creek, about 20 miles southwest of Dayton and roughly 15 miles northeast of Middletown. Germantown is part of the Dayton metropolitan area and is close to Interstate 75 and U.S. Route 35. The village is located at approximately 39.625° North latitude and 84.378° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,531 residents. Germantown covers about 2.91 square miles, or 7.53 square kilometers, with nearly all of the area consisting of land. The community was founded in 1804 by German settlers and developed around farming and local trade. Its historic downtown contains buildings that reflect its early settlement. Germantown MetroPark, located just outside the village, is a major natural attraction with trails, forests, streams, and opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing.
