Grantsville is a city located in Tooele County, Utah, the United States. It lies in northwestern Utah, about 35 miles southwest of Salt Lake City and roughly 10 miles west of Tooele. The city sits in the Tooele Valley between the Oquirrh Mountains and Stansbury Mountains, with the Great Salt Lake located to the north. Grantsville is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area and has access to Interstate 80 and other major regional roads. The city is located at approximately 40.600° North latitude and 112.465° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 12,803 residents. Grantsville covers about 30.25 square miles, or 78.35 square kilometers, and is primarily land. The community was settled in 1850 and named after Peter Grantsville, an early settler, with the city later incorporated in 1949. Agriculture shaped the area's early growth, while residential development has expanded in recent decades. Nearby attractions include the Great Salt Lake, Bonneville Salt Flats, Stansbury Island, and Great Salt Lake State Park.
