Hyrum is a city located in Cache County, Utah, the United States. It lies in Cache Valley, about 10 miles south of Logan and roughly 75 miles north of Salt Lake City. Hyrum sits near the Wellsville Mountains and the foothills of the Bear River Range. The city is located at approximately 41.635° North latitude and 111.850° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,369 residents. Hyrum covers about 4.56 square miles, or 11.81 square kilometers. The community has a long agricultural history, with farmland surrounding many residential areas. Hyrum Reservoir is one of the area's best-known recreational features and is part of Hyrum State Park, where visitors enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, camping, and picnicking. A unique feature of Hyrum is its location between the agricultural floor of Cache Valley and the mountain landscapes of northern Utah. The city was settled by Mormon pioneers in the 19th century and was named after Hyrum Smith, an early leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. U.S. Highway 89 and nearby U.S. Highway 91 connect Hyrum with Logan, Wellsville, Brigham City, and other northern Utah communities.
