Where is Logan Located?
Logan is a city located in Hocking County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in southeastern Ohio along the Hocking River, about 45 miles southeast of Columbus and roughly 25 miles east of Lancaster. The city is located at approximately 39.540° North latitude and 82.408° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,296 residents, and Logan covers about 4.79 square miles (12.41 sq km). The community was founded in 1818 and incorporated in 1839. Logan grew along the Hocking River and became a center for farming, timber, coal, iron, and other industries found in the surrounding Hocking Valley. Today, the city serves as the county seat and a gateway to the Hocking Hills recreation region. Hocking Hills State Park is the area's best-known attraction, with sandstone cliffs, caves, waterfalls, forests, and hiking trails. Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, and Cedar Falls are among the most visited natural landmarks nearby. A unique feature of Logan is its location between a historic river valley and one of Ohio's most scenic forested regions. The Hocking River runs through the city and adds to its natural setting.
