Moraine is a city located in Montgomery County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in southwest Ohio along the Great Miami River, about 5 miles south of Dayton and about 15 miles north of Middletown. Kettering is roughly 6 miles east, while Centerville is about 8 miles southeast. Moraine is positioned near 39.707° North latitude and 84.220° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,699 residents. The city covers about 9.34 square miles, or 24.19 square kilometers, of land. The Great Miami River is an important geographic feature along the western side of the city and supports local parks and trails. The Moraine Airpark and nearby industrial areas reflect the city's transportation and manufacturing history. A unique fact about Moraine is that it became an independent city in 1953 after separating from surrounding communities, and its location near Dayton has made it an important center for industry and transportation in the Miami Valley.
