Oakwood is a city located in Montgomery County, Ohio, the United States. It lies immediately south of Dayton, about 3 miles from downtown Dayton and roughly 10 miles west of Xenia. Kettering surrounds much of Oakwood, while Beavercreek is about 8 miles northeast. Oakwood is positioned near 39.723° North latitude and 84.175° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 9,572 residents. The city covers about 2.19 square miles, or 5.67 square kilometers, of land and water. Oakwood is known for its mature trees, historic neighborhoods, landscaped streets, and early 20th-century architecture. The Wright family has a strong connection to the community, and the Wright Brothers' Hawthorn Hill home is located in Oakwood.
