Where is Ontario Located?
Ontario is a city located in Richland County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in north-central Ohio, about 6 miles southwest of Mansfield and roughly 65 miles northeast of Columbus. Lexington is around 10 miles southwest, while Shelby is about 15 miles northwest. Ontario is positioned near 40.759° North latitude and 82.590° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,047 residents. The city covers about 6.14 square miles, or 15.90 square kilometers. Ontario developed as a small agricultural and railroad community before growing into a suburban and commercial center serving the Mansfield area. The city is especially known for its large retail district along US-42 and nearby shopping areas. Mohican State Park and Malabar Farm State Park are within driving distance and offer hiking, camping, scenic views, and historic sites. Ontario was incorporated as a village in 1958 and became a city in 1968. A unique fact about the community is that it grew rapidly during the second half of the 20th century as Mansfield's suburban development expanded southward.
