Pickerington is a city located in Fairfield County, with a small portion extending into Franklin County, in Ohio, the United States. It lies southeast of Columbus, about 15 miles from downtown Columbus and roughly 20 miles northwest of Lancaster. Canal Winchester is around 8 miles southwest, while Reynoldsburg is about 8 miles west. Pickerington is positioned near 39.885° North latitude and 82.754° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 23,094 residents. The city covers about 10.72 square miles, or 27.76 square kilometers. Pickerington was founded in 1815 by Abraham Pickering and developed as a small agricultural and transportation community. Its historic downtown area, known as Olde Pickerington Village, preserves the character of the city's early years with older buildings, local businesses, and community landmarks. Nearby Blacklick Woods Metro Park provides wooded trails, wetlands, golf, fishing, and nature programs. Pickerington was incorporated as a village in 1815 and became a city in 1991.
